I thought there might be a few people interested to see these pictures. I am currently looking after the full rebuilds of 6 of our Cat 651E scrapers. We operate the largest scraper fleet in Australia with around 60 units including 637G's, 651E's and 657G's.
The rebuilds are "back to the chassis" and include all major componentry, wiring, hosing and updates that include additional access steps, railings, tungsten coated GET etc.
Our workshop is very well set-up. We do all our own component rebuilds, fabrication, machining, line-boring etc, right down to the final painting.
We have our own internal exchange stock which includes engines, transmissions, hydraulic cylinders and even 2 complete cushion hitches.
Once the 651's are complete we are planning to rebuild some 637's and some D11R's.
I have lots more pictures to share if anyone is interested.
Cheers.

Those pics look somewhat familiar! You an Abi man by any chance and have you kept another forum member fed (Gav) with pics to answer my questions???
All I have to say is the quality of the 651Es in the pics I was privileged to be sent, was superb. Some real pride in what you guys do. Great to see.

Re: 651E Rebuilds
Thanks for the kind welcome notes. Its nice to see so many people interested in earthmoving equipment.
The rebuild of a 651E takes around 5-6 weeks from start to finish.
We have a set of components ready to fit into the scraper from our excahnge stock and then the components we remove are rebuilt ready for use in the next one.
A plan and workscope is put in place before we start the stripdown. This helps the process run like clockwork.
We are currently up to our 5th rebuild of 6 units that have reached the appropriate hours.
Some of our 657G's are on a 24hr/7day project that is bringing the hours up very quickly. I believe they will be up for major rebuild by the end of the year. I'm looking forward to planning and managing the rebuilds on these.
We have also scheduled 2 or 3 D11R'S for major rebuild this year (as well as all the other usual stuff that goes on from day to day with a big fleet). Never a dull day!!
