Re: Le Tourneau Scrapers
Hey Nick,
Here are a couple of images from the LeTourneau University Museum. Please let me know which specific "tournapull(s)" your friend is looking for information and photos about?
Are we talking RG pre, Letourneau-Westinghouse, or RG post?
This is a significant machine! The 1000th "C Tournapull".

the engine is quite amazing.---While probably the biggest engine that LeTourneau could get his hands on, a D17000,--
at 160 HP at 950 RPM.
a 20 yard pull pan with 16o hp wasnt the fastest thing on the planet.
In case you arent into the old cat engine numbering system--- if you drop one zero off the end of the model number you have the engine displacement in Cubic Inches.
This engine family appeared in 3,4,6 and 8 cylinder configurations featuring a side mounted crank start gas starting engine.
The 3s were briefly used in the D-6 and N0 11 grader, with the 4s and 6s being standard in the D7 and D8 respectively
though asnearly as I can tell the actual model number such as the "D8800, D13000, and D17000 only appeared on the engine when the engine was sold for industrial applications other than Cat equipment.
