Has anyone seen one of these. Looking on the net only 150 were built. Coming from the late 50s they must have been huge. I wonder from the photos if they were all wheel steer? Apparently Leyland 680 coupled with a multi speed epicyclic transmission.

Here's a leaflet and some pics I took of Andrew Beulah's Gainsborough a few years back.






A local company used one for a while for loading coal and I actually bid on one at a Ministry Sale at Church Down, Glos. Perhaps its as well I didn't get it.
Apparently from what I'm told, for some reason, the hydraulics were driven from an intermediary shaft in the transmission. This caused the pump speed to vary with the gearing taking away the hydraulic power when needed most.
They were rear wheel steer.

Thanks Fred. The photo I posted above the front wheel looks turned slightly. Must be an illusion. I guess the hydraulic issue could have been sorted by mounting a pump drive on the engine. They must have had some poke to pull the onions.
