C.E.: JCB rides out sales fall to raise profits.

JCB has maintained profitability despite the deepest ever recession in the global construction equipment industry.

Sales dropped a third to £1.35bn in 2009 but the manufacturer overcame the fall to marginally raise pre-tax profit to £29m compared to £28m the year before.
