3C Mk II and Mk III cab dimensions ? (and Happy New Year everyone) !

Post #1 by j.d.clarke » Mon Jan 06, 2014 10:45 am

:D

I've been through all the manuals in the downloads section and searched the web quite extensively but still can't find any info on the dimensions of 3C II and 3C III bodies/cabs.

Does anyone know whether a 3C II cab will physically fit onto a 3C III frame/body ?

Many thanks in advance if anyone can point me in the right direction, otherwise I'll need to start measuring the 3C III and see if anyone can measure their 3C II :)

You would be probably best to find some physical measurements. My guess would be the cab footprint would be near enough the same but the 111 has a cut out for the step through entry and the front near side mount will be different because of this.

Thanks guys.

Pete I kind of figured they were probably the same (apart from the door).

Dave thats the one I've been looking at on eBay, just need to make sure it'll sit on my 3C Mk III :)

I had a rough go at measuring my cab last night (in the dark), its difficult to get any accurate measurments because a lot of the bottom of my cab is missing (and all the glass as well).

I got roughly....

Length - 74 inches (188cm)
Width - 66 inches (168cm)

Does anyone with a 3C Mk II have a few mins spare to run a tape measure round their cab and see if the Mk II cab roughly the same sizes please ?

Cheers - John

I measured a mk2 at 71.5 inches long and 66 inches wide and a mk3 at 71 inches long and 66 inches wide. I think the extra half inch can be ignored on that mk2 I measured as it could well be as a result in the cab being repaired at one time.

Thanks William ! Sounds like they should be identical, the 'legs'/uprights of my cab could have easily splayed out/back by 3 inches as there is literally no metal attached to them at all at the bottom

My current cab looks more like a rusty gazebo than a digger cab !

If you are not looking for originality what about grafting on an early 3CX cab? Obviously more work but a better cab with a proper frame. I think there are pictures on here but certainly on the net.

The 3CX cab on a 3C does look the business. I've just had a look there and cant seem to find those pictures.

Purchased now :D so we'll see how the fitting goes in a few months time when I get time to have a go.

3CX cab,,, great idea, looks like a fair amount of modification would be required though, I was hoping for something a bit more 'bolt on'

Thanks for the ideas though guys !
