There's a job Mr MacGregor needs too, but there's also some bending needed. This is a very neglected area on many JCB's.

Yes, I replaced the brake disks as well. I still have to replace the bent rods, so bought some new 200mm sections of 3/8 rod, and will cut threads in. Having a pig of a job getting the damn things apart, even with lots of heat, and evaporust.

That's likely connected to lack of grease too. I've been battling with the handbrake for a while as it needs adjusting but never managed so far. the clutch end bracket is bent forward, making it impossible to set the free play correctly. The brakes need work too as they have the all too common problem of jamming on.

Found time this weekend to sandblast the pedal set, prime and paint for reassembly..... Didnt have the bushes for the handbrake lever shaft, but not a problem, all greased up. Just need to reassemble the handbrake ratheting mechanism, and finish making up the actuator rods for the brakes.

I had the same issue, the metalwork by the clutch was also bent, so I walloped it straight with a big hammer.....

Looks really good. If well greased there should be no issues.
Encouraging Richard, not sure how easily we can do that before removing stuff, but as we need to anyway we might just wait till it's off.

The bushes were so bad the brake pedals used to clash. Really needed to have the assembly out, and replace them. Just one of a thousand things that need doing.....

Mr MacGregor's ones aren't quite as bad but should be replaced, but the clutch free play is a much more urgent thing to fix. Hopefully we're not too far away.

All fitted back... and working. Brakes better than they have ever been and it actually stops now. Just need to replace some of the old 1inch clevis pins now.
