Hi
I have been involed with agricultural machines most of my life and come across many difereant problems my latest proble is that we did a complete hydraulic oil and filter change and the machine is now throwing the oil out of the tank filler whenever the hydraulics are used mainly it seems to be the boom down action but that could be just because it used the most lol i know the tank was not overfilled or any daft like that and even when the machine is srugglerling because its short of oil it still throws more out. and wondered if anyone had any ideas what the problem could be.
thanks for any thoughts suggestion in advance

I don't know anything about these machines but they may share heritage with the last of the Matbro Telehandlers? Is the filter part of the filler?

Re: John deere 3200 hydraulics
hi thanks for the reply and no it as two filters on it one at each end of tank and the filler is just that. i should also say that when the oil gets thrown it seems to be froath and all mixed with air it as if its sucking air int the system somewhere but i could only imagine that could only be on the low presure inlet sid between tank and pump but i realy grasping straws here . thanks for any input

Re: John deere 3200 hydraulics
If the level is correct after it's been stood and settled then it can only be one thing and that's cavitation so it's sucking air either on the suction pipe to pump or the pump shaft seals.
Or failing that it's doing a similar trick to manitous do and dumping excess return oil to tank where it shouldn't be which doesn't use a dip tube in tank to return oil below the level (under normal circumstances a return like that would only have the odd dribble back to tank not a constant flow) this is normally caused by a failed valve.
The above is from Andrew Cross at A and R Handlers near Banbury. Andrew is a very knowledgeable guy on most handlers and particularly Manitou. Can supply parts as well.

Re: John deere 3200 hydraulics
thanks for your reply that is pretty much what i was thinking , i had wondered about the pump seals the only real follow up comment is that the oil level is low after the machine is stopped , but i could hardly not be with the amount of oilit blowing out of the filler . anyway ill give it a good steam clean around the pump and see if theres anything to see which i doubt since it would be sucking in air and not blowing out oil
