Hi all
We are having trouble with the case 870 headlamps. My dad got this tractor second hand and it has never had the head lamps working as the previous person had just butchered the wiring and could of broken other parts. From what I have read about installing head lamps it goes something like this.
New parts
Dual relay head lamp 20A
Wire crimps
Wire; and
55w headlamps
1. Wire from battery with inline fuse to relay batt terminal.
2. Accessory power with inline fuse to headlamp switch
3. Switch to dual relay switch connection provides signal for relay latching
4. Earth on dual relay to chassis
5. Head lamps to output of dual relay and earth to chassis
This still doesn't work for some reason all fuses are good including on the dual relay box. I can manually make the lights work by pushing the relay contacts together. But for some reason the latching of the relay does work.
My theories are that I have missed something or the voltage drop from the switch to the relay is too great - very doubtful considering my run is shorter than original wiring.
Does anyone have a shop manual for this model of case 870?
Any help would be greatly founded
Cheers
Jeremy

If pushing the contacts together manually, works, I would suggest testing the relay.
If 12V doesn't trigger the relay into action, it's fair to say the small solenoid in the relay is broken.
