Ouch, I think the diff lock fork is responsible. I wouldn't have put it back together with something like that, there's too much risk of bigger trouble.

There's no obvious explanation, whoever was in there before knew how it happened. There's no loose bits floating around anywhere and if the pin hadn't snapped we'd be none the wiser. Although it looks like the bearing face is damaged, it is a sort of thin shield mounted behind the bearing. The reassembly wasn't an option as the workshop space was borrowed and had a large paying job waiting to come in.

A nice afternoon and a chance for a quick road trip before the easter bunny took over for important deliveries.

The bunny dates from the 1950's and was the mascot for the North Hants Motorball club travelling hundreds of miles tied to the front of a Morris Commercial. To be presice, this one...

There are several locally known characters and family members starring in this clip and although they often talked about the games - and still owned some of the bikes well into the 1990s - the fact that British Pathe News had filmed a game for cinema release was never mentioned. I found it purely by chance about five years ago and up 'till then none of the surviving family members ever knew it existed. Very strange.
