Hey lads dont know if this is the right section for this . If not maybe mods could move ?
I have just bought a Ransomes MG6 with the wide pads and the tipping skip. Its in a bit
of a state.... Badly rusted etc. Biggest problem at the moment is it has no engine. This is
my first restoration and I would appreciate any help you lads can give me. I will post pictures
tomorrow night if it stops raining long enough to get the camera out! My first questions are...
Where could I get a manual for this machine. Serial no is 11021. Any where I could date its
manufacture? What type of engine would have been on it originally? I would like to get it back
to as near original as possible. I think the manual would be a good place to start to see what it
was like in the beginning? Then I guess I should find an engine? Following that I think I should
get it running before a full strip down to repair any chassis rust problems then rebuild from there
up. Probably leaving making a new skip till last? What do you real experts think of my plan?
Again lads, any help much appreciated. I really hope I can get her back to a good state as I hate
seeing old machines rusting into the ground.

Re: Anything Whitlock
By the way reason I posted in this section is because Fred has posted pics of more or less the
same machine in this section. Cheers lads.

Re: Anything Whitlock
Probably best to post this Ransomes project in it's own thread and keep this one specific to Whitlock stuff.
There's a bit of info on the tractors wiki:-
http://tractors.wikia.com/wiki/Ransomes_Tractors
With some useful links toward the bottom, particularly other projects and mention of a Ransomes Register which is probably worth joining.
Sounds like you've got a industrial version which may be reasonably rare, but I suspect parts from other MG6 will be common. There seem to be lots of MG6s on Ebay in varioous states so maybe buying another for parts is a good way forward. Good luck with the resto and keep the forum updated with pictures as and when available please.
