Dumper id Newbi
Hi all Have just got myself a dumper and need to know what it is so far Thwaits now petter engine single cylinder , 20 inch front wheels ,16 rear ,and suprise a worn steering box . thanks to all I think someone sailed it here from England to Australia

Possibly a thwaites orion.
Tricky, they all seemed to have suffered steering box failure perhaps due to water ingress down the top bush. Thwaites must have bought them in from another manufacturer. I wonder if you could lash up something from a light truck?

Here's my Thwaites Orion, you can compare yours to these pictures. I think the 5 stud wheel hubs distinguish it from the lighter weight model.

You should be able to get a steering box of Ebay,or classic plant magazine,or Tractor and Machinery or one of the vintage rallies such as Welland or the great Dorset steam fair.

thats fine if you are in the old country but its a bit far from Australia ! I am hoping to fit a different box as the cost of the parts is more than the machine isorth got a quote here for 1000 pommy pounds plus freight ouch !
