Is that really only a three ton machine? It looks huge.

I would guess that Thwaites would have used an off shelf type product/fitting that would have been used elsewhere. If someone could identify the parts with numbers you could widen the search. Are they Girling or Lockheed?

The machine is new to me.

I have now found out it has Dunlop calipers and girling master cylinders, how can i find out what kind of fluid to use in my system Brake fluid or mineral oil ? there looks to have been mineral oil not brakefluid that came out when i did disassembly
of some of the parts today.the cap on the fluid reservoar is gone. the pistons in the master cylinder is stuck, and one of the brake hoses is clogged .here is a Picture of the machine It says hydraulic system mobil dte oil,no mention of brake fluid.
Thanks for all help you can give me.

I would do a search starting with :https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=old+girling+master+cylinder&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=fv33UuX7Hobe7Aad-ICYBw&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAQ&biw=1440&bih=658

I would guess you might have to dismantle and clean, replace all the seals if it has stood for a long time. If the bores are corroded then some kind of replacement will be needed.

Maybe this might help: http://www.powertrackbrakes.co.uk/caliper.html

I would think you need to stay clear of the modern brake fluids as most like they will damage seals.

I now have repaired the brakes on the machine, and they work well.
I have also overhauled the lift cylinder and tilt cylinders, and replaced all the oil, I have trouble getting me new hydraulic filter but I'm working on it.
If anyone knows of a filter with measures 10 "high 2" internal diameter and about 3.5 "
outside diameter, oil supply in the center so let me know.
I have no got a New filter, tested the lifting of my 820kg log machine ,no problem
