Still confused which model I have......

Post #1 by freddyuk » Thu Apr 30, 2026 4:15 pm

I am about to rebuild my small dumper which I have used after fitting new brakes and filters but since then it has sat unused and suffered a bit from the rust. I never really identified what it was so I am posting pics again to see if anyone has the same?
Getting parts is difficult although I did get brake parts a few years ago (lockheed drums with cable/rod actuators) which may be off a Triumph Herald??
These have become a bit seized as I live on the coast. The axle is a Salisbury but I cannot easily get the filler off as there is an elbow fitting instsalled which stops a socket fitting it so aqn open ended spanner is all I can use but it has never been off in recent history so unlikely that will work.
The number plate is a UK "H" so 1970 year. It now resides in West Cork, Ireland. Looking at the steering geometry it does not match any other small dumper I can find??
Apart from David Cornwallis are there any other suppliers of parts for these historic machines?

When you post, look for the tab 'upload pic' click on that, then locate each photo and post when you have uploaded them all, hope that helps.

It is very similar to the Thwaites Nimbus of that era, particularly with the left-hand drive. It looks to be a 15 cwt size.

Looking at some Youtubes it is definitely a Nimbus - thank you. However mine has the engine facing in reverse direction to others I have seen. I have a direct drive via a cluth to the axle.
The steering is the same - lots of ball joints and king pins that need replacing.
