Looking for info

Post #1 by Robwill » Wed Jul 30, 2025 1:01 pm

Hi legends,
Just bought a new beast for the fleet :D . Found an ID plate but can't work out if it's Barford or Benford and what year/model it is.

Also for the Aussies here, I need some new tyres, any ideas?
I think I may have found a partial answer, it's a Benford, as they were made in Warwick! Just need info on serial number lookup.

What size are the tyres / rims?
Same stud pattern front and back?

I can see a crack that will need attention!

Hi, Robwill.
I think I'd go with "Benford" too. You might need to start 'infesting 2nd hand tyre joints. Depending on the size(s), you might find some of the smaller truck tyres that will fit. You're a bit off the beaten track where you are which will maybe make it harder to search for them.

I am currently in Murray Bridge, S.A., where there izza 2nd hand tyre place. If you give the sizes, I will wander down there and rattle their cage for you.

Just my 0.02.
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Front tyres are 7.50 16. Fronts are 5 stud, rears are three. Can't see the rear size until I get it home and off the trailer. I have found a place in McLaren Vale that has some, just seeing if they do freight. Currently in Aldinga but heading out at 5am tomorrow!

It doesn't take much imagination to guess what you'll be using the dumper for in White Cliffs.
I'd also suggest if you get it bogged, you are doing something wrong !!

I'd be putting light truck tyres on it - what did you have in mind?

I wouldn't mind trying to keep it original but not sure how the rears would go with the rocks. LTs probably the way to go
