It is indeed a thwaites alldrive 4000 but what year it is from no idea. It is still going strong and has moved 1300m3 of earth already but the engine is getting tired so it will need some tlc real soon.

The time has come to open it up, pistons and cylinders worn out. Replacing them + new bearings and cleaning out everything and putting in new seals wherever i can.

Will keep you updated as i go along. I have a YouTube channel where we post videos and the dumper will come in one of the future videos called Domaine Sauvage for anyone interested.

I have all the parts now, i ordered them from stationaryparts in the UK and within 2 days i had them neatly packed in France.
The valves have been regrinded and tomorrow i will start putting in the new pistons and cylinder, i will try to remember to take a picture here and there as i progress.

Stupid question: How do i check compression since there are no glow plugs, is there a tool to check through the injector hole?

Yes, that's how it is done, but if you've renewed all then compression should not be an issue so long as your valve seats are okay, a simple turn of the engine by hand will also let you know you have good compression, well give you a fair idea.

verdone.
I changed the pumps on a PH2 and it can be confusing setting the timing up with the marks on the fly wheel. Mine had 10 timing marks on the fly wheel ( 5 each at 180 degrees to each other ) I'm sure the engine can run both ways hence the two lots of timing marks. The before TDC marks 2 either side of TDC are for ( nearly sure) single cylinder Ph1 and twin cylinder Ph2. There's only a couple of degrees between them not sure how critical it is. Got mine done after a bit of head scratching.
Norm.
