Pete they are not quite the right fit unfortunately but they came off EBay; I may order some mre but a slightly smaller diameter for hopefully a better fit?

Some half decent weather at last! 
I got up to my machines earlier this week, I did have one other previous visit where I did a small amount of cosmetic work on the Poclain. As many of you will no doubt be aware keeping machines outside they get covered in muck without doing any work, the 580BT looks rather weather beaten these days and was covered in a layer of muck that needed washing off.
I quickly got to work washing the machine down and the weather was perfect for this to be done, although we have had a few days of dry weather I didn't want to track either machine through mud to wash it off only to find it covered back in mud after I had tracked it back.
I do have a few days holiday due to me now so I need to get moving with some serious work, the Poclain also got another clean down.

Work has temporarily halted on the 690 for a couple of reasons, I'm still waiting on my fabricator to make the other panels I require and I still need to get three new hinges made, that aside I have turned back to do some more work on the 580BT. The side window rail where the two sliding windows are has rotted away, hardly surprising when you consider the machines age, I cleaned this up, got rid of the rotted metal and bolted a new strip of metal into place.
I considered if I should free off the sliding windows but after some serious consideration, I remembered all too well the horrible rattling noise they make when the engine is on tick over so I left well alone.

Work has continued on the 580BT and with the heatwave we've all been experiencing, I couldn't resist turning it into a cabriolet 
yes one of the very first repairs I carried out on this machine back in 2015 was a temporary repair to the cab roof which had started to fail due to the continual rust. I have found another fabricator, although my other one has finally come up trumps with the new panels for the 690.
With osome help from Andrew's mechanic, the old cab roof was cut off and the new one installed, the fabricator had made this from the pattern that CMN member Norman Orrick made for me some time back now, so spot on Norm
The only downer was one of the two sliding windows shattered, whether from heat or sparks I don't know, but the decision has now been made that I will get the other window removed and a new single large one fitted, it does not trouble me that this will be none standard, these windows never slid as they were supposed to used to make one hell of a racket when the engine was on tickover, and let rainwater in to the cab, so good ridance so far as I am concerned, the roof will be repainted all being well on my next visit, I only made sure the bare metal was covered before I left.
