There was a programme on BBC Wales which showed a clip of the walnut tree viaduct from 1967 still in use and showed the lime works on the other side of the viaduct so I took some pics.

Hi Ian,
Great to see those pics, not only did I work on plant on hire to Christiani Shand on that job circa 1969, (I was there to repair a Case 450 the day before the crane came off the top), but I crossed that bridge a couple of times as a boy on trips to Barry Island. Over the bridge, through the tunnel by the lime kilns and on to Barry.
The crane on the valley floor at the time of the accident was not as sudgested in an earlier post here, on the A470, but on the Pentyrch Road the other side of the valley near where County Diggers and Glyn John Transport had their yard.

Watching on the excellent TPTV a Look at Life film ( Link-Up 1969 ) about new fangled Police personal radios.
Features this massive Richards and Wallington Atkinson low loader reg. LOA426F carrying a 38RB through Arundel.
This must be the Atkinson T5566C mentioned in press article about the Carrimore trailer in Tims post no.46 in this thread '
Did they run it same time as the 1966 Mack ?
Good shot of the driver also .
