Had an hour on the D4 this afternoon.Got out my gas axe and burned out the remains of the dozer blade pivot boss.Trimmed it and put in a replacement boss. All ready to weld it now.
As you can see the rest of the machine is taking shape.Collecting the refurbished seats Monday.

She's looking great Martyn.
A question for you, the front grille has a 'woven wire' mesh fitted, do you know if this is available ?, The mesh in my R2 screen is rusted away at the bottom, and it would be good to be able to replace it with new. I imagine it will be the same as on your D4 grille.

I think you can get similar mesh.I saw some on a website when I was looking for mesh for the Drott. It was a while back.Try a web search on wire and mesh manufactures.I will ask around.

Hi Martyn
For wire mesh try this firm - Potter & Soar, at http://www.wiremesh.co.uk/ They make all sorts from micro fine woven mesh up to HD industrial screener mesh in all sorts of materials - steel, brass, Stainless etc. and punched sheet mesh as well for decorative use and making sieves etc IIRC.
Used to have a catalogue some were years ago from a trade fair, but its probably in the loft now.

Had a good day on the D4 yesterday.Started stripping off the paintwork. On the hydraulic tank I found some numbers.Could make out 1 and 5 clear.on top of olive drab paint.Checked through some photos I was sent a few months back,it confirmed that these numbers were machine weight 15285.Ontop of the green I found orange paint then its yellow.I guess that after its army use it was purchaced by a contractor who's companies colour may have been orange. The cleaning is a very time consuming job but worth it.
Will post photos of its progress shortly.

With good weather forcast for this week I have had a good day on the D4.Using Nitromors and a wire brush attachment to my grinder I have taken all the paint off.The old army green paint takes some shifting.
Will be doing the cab area on Wednesday.
