New Cat D8T For Chepstow

Post #1 by Jim M » Thu Jan 26, 2012 10:21 pm

Here are pictures of Chepstow Plants new Cat D8T down here in Devon working for Sibelco Minerals .The new dozer has dual tilt on the blade and a newly styled interior to the cab. I have been operating this dozer for the past two days and i have to say it has bags of power and is comfortable to spend a shift in especially when ripping as the air suspended seat takes out all the lumps and bumps when on hard china clay / granite. The forward and reverse twist grip on the tiller has been replaced with a forward and reverse switch and gear change slider marked with a tortoise and hare which took me awhile to get use to,also you have 3 modes on the dual tilt which is Load,Carry, and Spread and when enabled can be cycled through with the right hand yellow button on the blade control lever. Also fitted are ram mirrors and a colour reversing camera and a lower ripper light for night time ripping. All in all a great dozer and cat has made a beauty here

Looks like a nice machine .. Still Diff steer? The older ones would jump out of gear while tramming in hard stuff I heard.

All the D10 / D11T's here have finger tip controllers ..

Its been a while since i've seen a D8, How are you ment to climb on the dam thing?

Still boggles the mind why CAT have not changed the Idler cap's to 3 bolt?
