Hi Jeremy,
It is as Major V8 says a Track Marshall.
Its a TM70 from the 1960s with the Perkins 6-354 engine. I can't tell from the pic. which model but the "70C" had controlled differential steering and the "70H" clutch and bake steering.
The back actor is clearly the same as the one on the TM in the picture below which is an enlargement from a pic. I saved from "Forestry Memories" a few years ago.
I have puzzled over the maker for some time. It does say BXT 55 on the boom but I have been unable to find any reference to any such company or model of backhoe.
Does anyone know the answer??
Fred

Re: old dozer in the bushes
Thank you Dave, problem solved.
I think Brown Bros & Co Ltd were a very old Scottish firm big into hydraulic stabilisers and the like for shipping, but I had no idea they produced a backhoe attachment.
I wonder how many BXT55s were made
The 240 degree slew would have been a big advantage over the competition at the time.
It looks well built too, must have been very back end heavy though.
