The Classic Machinery Network

This is an old photo I found while going through some albums, it must be late 70s or very early 80s and was taken at Slapton, South Devon.

From memory a UXB was found on the beach -left over from D-Day landing practices in 1943/44 and the army boys came down to defuse it with this. They also had one of those big Scammell Crusader 6x4 + low-loader parked in the car-park.

Taken at Russell Seywell's open day at Little Paxton a couple of years ago

Slapton was the site of major loss of life on the run up to D day.German boats came in and attacked the allied craft whilst training.I has been reported that 800 men were lost.
