The 355 was not the best bit of Iron to move under its own steam, the engine was the 155 mil raced up somewhat that was poked into the 155 tractor, in the 155 they used to cough up cylinder valves often at start up, the valve springs did not like to be left stood for to long and lost the spring effect, there was also core plugs that were in the cylinder gasket face of the head, but not sealed by it that would fail, jetting coolant onto the camshaft turning it and the followers a funny shape, the turbo fitted to this engine was Komatsu's own build, that was very costly and a regular victim for the bits of valve that let fly, the piston cooling oil spray jets could often be found hanging out the sump plug at oil change time, I loved the Komatsu tractors with this engine fitted, as there was often loads of over time, also it paid to have a cylinder head handy as these often cracked, so whats not to like about them from my angle "nothing", the real crap bit about these tractors was the parts book, that boffin in the wheel chair (forgot his name) would struggle to find the part needed in it, even Marubeni Komatsu air locked trying to fathom this tome, finding the correct part No always followed with not in stock, back order Japan, these tractors seemed to be great bangers at first, but once the first cylinder head needed to be lifted, it was a regular event, I have no customers now that run bigish Komatsu tractors, I sort of miss them and that big fat Funnel of an exhaust.

Sound's like the 1981 (american-made) Ford Escort I had (for a very short time) :lol:
At least it (the KOMATSU) looked good.....

once had a 375A on hire in 1991.Bit bigger looking than a D9L and a handsome brute too.It belonged to Mangham Shaw of Durham.They had 2 of them but loads of D9H/N's so I guess they preferred Cat too.

I might be wrong - but I think Miller Mining had a 375 working down here on Kirk OCCS in the early 90's
