It's black paint.
I used a matt black water based paint from Citadel, can get it from the games workshop. I just dabbed a bit in each hole and then wiped it away with my finger. Takes 2 or 3 goes to build it up.

Re: CAT 797F project
No not on this one. The model is big enough to put one of those square 9v batteries in-between the chassis just in front of the back wheels. I broke 2 of the LED's tonight so couldn't finish putting the lights in. Got 2 of the higher headlights in though. http://www.classicmachinery.net/forum/images...

Just got the Joal WA800 too and am surprised - it's not a bad model at all is it?!
Major railing session this weekend on the 992 and WA800 :-/
I like the JOAL models. Cracking base models to custom.

Does anyone know the closest match to the mustard yellow Norscot use on most Cat models?
Thanks

Hi Dave, The closest I have got to it is CAT yellow paint from Finning.
I think I paid about £15 for a can of spray. If you do buy some buy the CAT paint and not Finnings own brand.

Re: Komatsu HD605 with headlights.
Yes, Drilled 2 small holes just wide enough to get the wires through. Drilled them in the crease where the headboard meets the base then underneath ran the wires under the dump body towards the back and then doubled back along the chassis to the LED's. I should have got some photos of the wire routi...

Re: Norscot 992G
I've not really matched it yet, I've put all the bits on but still yet to paint it.
I'm colour blind so what I think looks right will probably be a million miles away!
Someone somewhere will have the paint code.
