Re: JCB oil change

Thanks for that guys  I thought what Id bought would be fine but being an newbie JCB owner, I just wanted to be sure and compared to whats there, a load of fresh oil and new filters all round should help it breath and run a whole let better. Fingers crossed

Re: JCB oil change

Hi Chris, What engine oil did you decide to use in the end? I've just been to my local agricultural supplier and got 20 litres of 15W40 semi synthetic which he says everyone uses now but I just wanted to confirm that its fine before I dump the engine oil and refill it. Oh the joys of having a new to...

Re: JCB 3CX gearbox oil

I've recently bought a 1984 grey cab 3CX with the same gearbox as yours. I got it from a farmer who had been running the SS and TC on red ATF as in his words : "it was cheap and all I could get because it has a bit of a leak". I've discovered that his "bit of a leak" really means...

Re: Confirmation needed

Thanks for that Essexpete. Do you know what fluid goes in the TC? Is it an ATF? The guy I bought it off told me about the leak and said that it was using about half a litre per days work. For now I’ve some digging and levelling to do so I’ll just keep it topped up until winter and sort out the leak ...

Confirmation needed

Guys, I know there’s plenty of very knowledgeable people in the room and being totally new to this JCB ownership thing I need help confirming if this leak in the photo is coming from the torque converter? The fluid leaking out is clear pink, the same colour as the atf fluid I use in my Jeep, and is ...

Re: Hello from Co Down

Yep, all glass doors and the big shift lever as you say, which strangely will only select forward after having been put into reverse first.

Re: Hello from Co Down

From the engine number mine is a 1984 with the Perkins 4.236. The different projects and cab colours mean very little to me atm so its good to know what I have actually bought especially for ordering parts which may have to be sooner rather than later. The guy I bought it from mentioned and in fairn...

Re: Hello from Co Down

Here’s a few photos of my recent acquisition and latest big boy toy. There’s a few bits and pieces missing which I hope to replace over time and she’s a bit scabby, but then she is 36 years old. Hopefully get an engine oil and filter change and new air filters some night this week and progress from ...
