Re: 3cx Grey cab stuck in forward
Managed to extract the wiring plug from the reverse / forward switch through the gap between the column and the dash . After seperating the plug i get continuity between the red and the same switch pole regardless of lever position . The one I get continuity with is the Blue/Yellow which is meant to...

Re: 3cx Grey cab stuck in forward
Thanks gents , yeah , does sound electrical . The machine correctly recognises it is in gear . The lever or a relay or even a wire somewhere . I had a look at the manual and there is an extensive section on fault finding , i'll get out this morning and give it a go . Thanks , appreciate the replies .

3cx Grey cab stuck in forward
Happy new year gents . Was doing some work in the grey cab today , at one stage I totally lost drive after changing to 3rd . Then it came back after some stirring of gears and I assumed I'd missed a gear . All was well till i stopped and realised I couldn't get neutral or reverse . I stopped the eng...

JCB 3CX Tip Angle
What angle would my Grey cab 3CX tip over at :geek: Whenever I go over any ground at an angle I start getting worried . With the 4 in 1 front bucket at ground level and the extra dig boom racked in the center what would be considered dangerous ?. Surely it won't go to 45 degrees or anything near it ...

Re: New to me 1987 JCB 3CX hydroclamp question
Haven't a clue about the hydroclamps , that does look a weird set up . Does it rotate indefinitely when the engine is running ?. On the hoses I'd just cut a bit of rubber and wrap it round and get at least one cable tie on the protruding bit . Always a bit wary about doing too much protecting and tr...

Re: Petter PH2
Norm , yeah , I got her going again yesterday . Long and short of it is the vertical stack meant for a grey Fergie was almost entirely blocked with carbon   I didn't stretch to new rings and just put the piston I removed back in as was . One of the exhaust ports was bad with carbon and I ...

Re: Petter PH2
Yeah Pete , it was a winget I think . Lay on a hillside nearby , omly one axle working , clutch blown , no brakes or fuel tank and loads of other issues . I chopped it up and I have never seen a machine so heavily constructed - those wingets were made to last that's for sure ! The two rams for the t...

Re: Petter PH2
Thanks Fred , I will search out your post now . The exhaust silencer was a new off ebay item , a vertical stack meant for a grey fergie . I've got the rain cap on top but I just can't remember whether it was a straight through or packed with wool type . When I first used it the flap used to be full ...

Re: Petter PH2
Thanks Norm , the head ports did have a fair build up but not too bad . I just wish I'd had a look in the exhaust manifold . The air coming out the air intake is a bit of a worry and I hope it's just a blocked exhaust . Yeah , I leave mine idling most of the time . The smoke when it gets revved up i...
