No,it don't work that way. When freight is moved by rail its mainly in bulk,ie 2000 tonnes plus by train.The train company pays an access charge to network rail.which is a fraction of the revenue of the load being transported. sorry for bringing old posts back but being a new type these are great topics ! great pics neil , as mentioned , i wroked for kelston in the A303 bypass at ilminster & at least one of these was still hauling along side the newer F16 , they must be years old now , any chance of them being refurbi...

nice pics chap , although the main company i see hauling trains are allelys ,but it does sort of write off the governments argument on trying to put freight back on the rails , after all if it's cheaper to move loco's & rolling stock by road then by the railways own admission it cant be done !

now over to avonmouth 'G' shed a very light & airy place to work but years back it was a nightmare shed to load from G shed runs a few volvo loaders from one of the first type L50's onto L120B's /C's & the newer F series VOLVO L120C loading distillers wheat nuts http://i237.photobucket.com/a...
