Re: JCB 1400B Dying/Won't Idle

Another possible solution is to run it off a gravity feed, just setup a small container or tank with some fuel in it, pipe it directly to the fuel injection pump by-passing the filters and lift pump, then work back from there if it runs okay.

First three photos; MOD Hy-mac 580BT excavators fitted with air-cooled Dorman Diesels. Jeremy I know the MOD operate in mysterious ways :) but seems an odd choice of engine. Craig Apparently the MOD specified the Dorman engine; I can only suppose they wanted an air-cooled engine made in t...

Re: Classic pictures Updated 15/04/2025

Godstone perhaps? The last picture looks odd. The JCB looks to modern for the rest of the scene with a D reg Cavalier SRI parked in true Vauxhall style - half way across the pavement. Could be the early ,90s with a 10 year old car? I thought the guy leaning on the shovel had very short legs before ...

My thoughts too, perhaps a preserved classic? Gordon Gilder appears to be a reasonable sized haulier, I have seen quite a few of their trucks around.
