Re: Unknown small Dumper seen on ebay
Very unusual , rear wheel drive ? I think Barford may have made it as it looks like a Bantam skip and I think I have a brochure for it somewhere !
Have never seen one in the metal so to speak so they can't have sold many.

Hi,
Certainly has lots of Barford type features, not only the shape of the skip, but the panels look as though they were designed by the same guy as those on a Barford Boxer I once owned.

Re: Unknown small Dumper seen on ebay
It is a Barford SD O6 , a curious beast with Marina drive axle on rear , front steer and equal size wheels all round.Gravity tip and hand start with no options. The brochure is a masterpiece of meaningless spin .Killer is payload at only 12 cwt ! so 3 cwt less than the smaller Barford Bantam , weird. Selling point seems to be price at £1,350 which they say is £250 less than competition.
No date on brochure but looks to be around 1980 by when 2wd dumpers had died a death. Aveling Barford were a division of SP Industries at the time who ever they were , so post Leyland pre Wordsworth.

Aha - Internet tells me SP Industries were part of British Leyland , formed in 1978 , this dumper the wrong product at wrong time with Marina axle has the brilliance of British Leyland written all over it .

Hi Craig,
I believe the S P in S P Industries was derived from " Leyland Special Products."
I dealt with them for Barford, Fowler and Track Marshall parts in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
