About 30 years ago when I was on plant I got a call out to Exeter, a lowloader had turned up with some machines to unload. The driver had just picked up the load and was not a lowloader driver, he drove tankers usually. He had been asked to deliver a Barber Green and a rubber wheeled roller. He was stuck, had no knowledge of plant whatsoever. So he contacted the firm I worked for as we were the largest company in Exeter and only a few miles from the driver. So I was dispatched to unload the machines for him.I gave him a hand to unchain the load and unloaded both machines. He was chuffed to bits as he may have been stuck there for hours.
He then took me to a nearby cafe for a very large fryup and gave me a £5 for getting him out of a spot.
Happy days
