What do you think this is?

Post #1 by yellow » Tue May 15, 2012 8:51 pm

Hi

Just found this forum, I have a number of jcb's already. Wondering if this is what I think it could be? All thoughts welcome! Thanks.

William
Says 3 mk11.
I thought I pass this by the experts.( I have a 3 mk 3 and 3c3).
I know this type of machine is rare, how many 3 mk11's were built and are spares readily available from scavenge machines as the engine needs a lot of attention. I have negotiated a price but would like your advice.

download/file.php?id=30844&mode=view

This was always my impression of what a 3mk2 looked like, from memory it was a 2Bmk2 chassis, 3Cmk1 dipper, 3 cylinder engine and their was always the debate as to whether it had a fibre glass cab just like the 3D mk1 which cab looked the same as and also was built in the same year.

Also the grill on that machine is very odd its the only thing about it that doesn't look like a 3 mk3

Many thanks
William the grill top half looks like my 3mk3, will have to look closer later.
I have another question; the engine is in no fit state to move this machine. It may have to be hoisted onto transport, or winched if the wheels turn. With no operating hydraulics back actor bucket (not pinned up for travel) and front bucket resting on the floor, how can the machine be moved without damage. The other machines I have been involved with have all started eventually and been driven (all be it very slowly with low pressures) onto transport
Still like to know how many of these were produced and over what period just the year.....etc
