New member needing help!

Hi guys recently started collecting 1.50 excavators and upto now I have 17 models of all different makes. I'll try and get some pics up when I figure out how to do so! To name a few I have a 5110b, 365b, 374d, 330, 336, a couple of pc1100 excavators Conrad cx800 motorart ec700 ect ect and I've just pre ordered 2 of the new CCM 390/385's, I have two questions, firstly does anyone have for sale or know where I can get a hitachi 870 or 1000? And secondly a few of my models have weak boom hydrolics and won't hold the arm up for a pose ect, does anyone have any tips on how to fix this cheers

Rightly or wrongly, holding up hydraulic booms is easily done with angle iron, cut to a suitable length and placed over the exposed ram, which should be protected with rag wrapped around it. Be careful not to score it!

It's the way we used to carry multiple loads of excavators on a low loader with buckets hanging over engines and cabs.

To answer your questions

2/ To secure your booms in a raised position. Pick up from your model shop either everygreen plastic tubing or k&S aluminium tubing. Get some just larger than the diameter of the ram piston. Cut the tube open along the length and remove 1/3rd of it. This will now clip over the original piston and provide support. Either paint it silver or even red as if it is a ram lock.

Thanks for the reply, it's only two of my models that do it (Conrad cx800 and Volvo ec700) if I raise them at night for instance they will relax slowly and come morning the bucket will be touching the floor. I wandered if a fine layer of super glue on the piston might do it? I'm also looking into some customising and weathering but don't know how or what to use as hoses ect, is there a step by step guide to help me anywhere cheers

Dont use superglue mate! Use a clear nail varnish! I did that on my EC700 bucket cylinder!! Works a treat and theres no risk of the rod accidentally getting stuck in the tube!
