Fowler VF Engine parts

Can anyone help ? A mate in cornwall is looking for fowler engine parts.

What is he looking for? I have only a few parts. Crawfords would have anything you could possibly want for Marshall engines and VF's. They have a stock of original parts as they bought up the old stores and also break tractors. But you will have to pay top dollar for it.

There is a fitter who works in a workshop in my yard who specialises in Marshalls in his spare time. I rate him as possibly the most knowledgable guy on Marshalls in the UK, he deals in tractors as well and often has a stock of parts. let em know what you want and |I can put him in contact.

I think he is after valves and other engine bits.He said Crawfords were a bit expensive.
I will find out exactly what he needs and let you know.

I have spoken to my man, changeover valves are very scarce, he did have one but has sold it.

Might be worth ringing him for other bits, ring Graham on 07976 319399

I'm nor sure about panels with double curvature - you'd need tooling for the job, but the deck plate could be very easily fabricated from steel sheet, as would the bonnet panels. - the deckplate on my Series one is a custom made jobby I think.

Regarding expenditure, probably it's worth remembering that these machines were expensive to buy new, I think the Field Marshall was twice the price of a equivalent Fordson - so spares prices probably follow suit, That and the relative scarcity of the things.... Sometimes spares come up in the small adds of Tractor & Machinery, then there's the Marshall club maybe?

I think what I'm trying to say, while trying hard not to sound a snob, is that cheap 'tat' from Vapormatic or Agriline etc that fits the bill for a Grey Fergie isn't available for Marshalls. :(

I know what you mean.Fowlers fetch a high price.I have always been surprised with that.They are great tractors but they make on average 8 grand a tractor.Just wondered how they attain that price range.
Caterpillars were a very expensive tractor when built, but a good D4 would not reach 8 grand at auction.

That price of Fowlers and Marshalls has always intrigued me too. I think, at the end of the day, that it's all to do with volume and demand and supply, Fordsons and Fergies got made by the thousands. Assuming you have the cash then the price isn't anything to baulk at in my opinion as you'll always recover it (and then some too) when you sell.

D4's etc are just problematical regarding transport and no good for road-runs. Take 'em on the road or tarmac surface and you'll chew it up and trailer transportation takes you instantly into the realms of HGV's, or tractor/trailer combos. You're pretty limited regarding activities really.....
