Specifically I'm after buying grade 8 bolts (machine screws would do) of 5/8th dia 1 3/4'' length.
I'm struggling finding a supplier, regular grade S or the SAE grade 5 (equivalent to metric grade 8.8 ) are easy enough. The nearest I found was a manufacturer in the midlands who had the blanks and would make me several thousand - I only need 8.
Anyway, I know there's a few here working within engineering so any pointers gratefully received thanks.
The other alternative would be M16's grade 10.9 (the equivalent strength) but these too may be difficult to source and would require me getting approval for their use first, something I'd like to avoid!
Cheers Julian.

Here's a supplier that I use at work and they still seam to be able to get hold of old redundant fasteners like UNF/UNC BSF/BSW and specials.
West Bromwich Fasteners Ltd
Tel 0121 520 6050
Hope that helps.

Thanks chaps, I had a brain wave just now and tried e-bay USA, got them ordered!
All the suppliers (including Namrick which I've used for years) only stock regular high tensile stuff, ie metric grade 8.8 or imperial sae grade 5 or the old grade S.
The best I did yesterday was find a bolt manufacturer in the midlands who had the blanks - wanted a minimum run of about 10,000 no doubt!
Julian.

Hi Martyn,
Talking about pad bolts, that may have been the answer to Julians search.
The standard 5/8 UNF pad bolt is 2 1/4 inches long, tensile strength 12.9 I've got some on the shelf.
We used to use them on the Barber Greenes to attatch the conveyor scraper bars to the chains too, everything else would shear but pad bolts cured the problem. They were all stamped with either a V or 12.9.
What size are on your Drott, I still have a few 1/2 inch.
Fred
