Cat 215`s

Post #1 by Hammer man » Sat Jun 12, 2010 3:36 pm

I had to go to Finlays in Stafford friday morning,as a track snapped on our crusher. Its only a small place on a trading estate out in the countryside. While i was waiting,i thought i`d have a nose around the back,& came across some old Cat machines.2 215`s,what looked like a 211 behind,a D4,& 2 941 tracked loaders. The 215D looked in good working order, while the other 215 looked like it had not moved for a long while, the same for the 211 behind it,but could not get a clear shot of that. The little D4 dozer looked like it had`nt moved in a while too,but loooked complete & in working order. Not so for the 2 941`s,which looked like they had sat for years, being used for spare parts. The Volvo in the 215D LC pic is a EC210CL with a new Allu crusher bucket, with Finlays name & address on it for show/demo of the crusher buckets.I ran out of room on my phone to get some pics of it

That green tracked shovel belonged to Claude Fentons from Reading - This was from when they had a yard at Hook  Good pics for a phone :claphands:

Thanks
Steve :)

Memories. Morgans had an early 215,i remember a plaque in the cab listing all the people who had assembled it. It had a four cylinder 3304 engine, if i'm correct the same as was used in the 951 traxcavator. They used to sound bloody awful when started but used to settle down to a lovely crackling sound at idle which then changed to almost a humming when put to work. We actually repainted ours, rubbing it down in the workshop and applying highway yellow with a brush! Morgans did'nt believe in spray guns... Cheers Hammer Man! 8-)
there are old fitters and bold fitters but no old bold fitters...
