793C and D-Series
Perhaps Cat trucks are no longer automatically assumed to be the best but the 793 is still one of my favs.

Re: 793C and D-Series
Hey Mike.
Unfortunately it's not a good idea for me to reveal where they are located, but I can tell you that they are being loaded by 1 x P&H 4100A and 2 x 4100C rope shovels. It’s hard going but they load in 3-passes maximum and in less than 2 mins.
It’s difficult to show you the loading equipment as I have to remove the companies name from the back and side of the shovels, but anyway, here is one after taking a quick and dirty approach using photo shop (I pressume that we'll all agree that it makes sense to post it here rather than start a new thread under Excavators).
At least a number of the 793s will be replaced by larger trucks later this year. I can’t say much about them either except that a decision has been made to change to larger electric drive.

Re: 793C and D-Series
That is one mean looking body on the last photo you posted RPfowler , is that an original skip which has been modified in house or does Cat offer this design for certain applications?

Re: 793C and D-Series
Hi Mike
Yes Ross is right, they are Australian made gull wing bodies for loading with P&H4100 without trashing the sides. With overburden the big P&H buckets do not have much space in the back of those bodies! After all they are only 240 ton!!!
Note also the huge suppression radiator grill assembly and muffle blanket over the rear diff housing.
Here is a normal 793 body.
And here is a 789!
