Excluding shaft sinking applications I have seen Hitachi & Kobelco to 12/13 tonnes fitted with extending dippers.
Also Bobcat, Kubota and Neuson mini excavators with extendable dippers.

Traditionaly HEX's are more mavouverable than the back hoes and therefore dont require the additional reach...

With the long carriage and no QH and a meter scoop it wasn't to bad.
