Think the 2cx tracair killed off the opposition.

Yeah the Site Master Has that sewn up ... They are handy at the mines for starting the trucks and running windys guns etc etc ...

Looks a bit like it from the pic if you ignore the Bigger rear wheels.

Only advantage I can think of over the small wheeled loaders or teleporter type machines would be tha a 3CX trype of machine is probably designed for better digging below ground level and grading with the 6 in 1 bucket than the other types are :?

as the others are optimised for loading performance rather than digging :!

Most builders merchants yards now have small articulated shovels rather than the old tractor loader, or use a forklift or some use the compact robot type machine for tight spaces.

Another potential benefit could be better traction from the larger wheel as my local yards small wheeled machines were spining like mad on the conrete and slush the other day.

Also from Rosses post if fitted with a Tow jaw can be used for haulling ancillary machinery about but then teleporters and Wheeled loader can be fitted with a Hitch (mainly used by Agri market)

I think Case used to offer a loading shovel based on the 580, with a rear counterweight. I saw a 1997 model for sale somewhere in a magazine.

Higways agency still have a lot of these with toe tip buckets in their gritter depots along with 70's Foden Gritters. Getting a lot of use at the mo i would think
Not all those who wander are lost.

And from 1976 the JCB 700

I believe the 700 was the last of loading shovel converted from backhoe loaders till now

I think they did offer the early 3cx red wheel and bucket version in 1981 as a loading shovel, i will have to have a delve in my photos as i am sure i have a picture of one.
