Crime doesn't PAY (Pay attention to warning please)

Post #1 by Neversweat » Fri Jul 24, 2009 9:14 pm

Many moons ago when i was on Recovery we had a Police call to a 3 vehicle fatal RTA.Apparantly a Renault 18 had gone through a Thames Valley Police speed trap on the main A33 into Reading.Off goes the Police motorcyclist in hot pursuit.
The A33 after the M4 goes into single carriageway - no sign of Renault slowing so Mr Policeman holds back.
Renault promptly goes on wrong side of road head on into a Scania 8 x 4 tipper.Force of impact kills Renault driver outright
and knocks the first axle of the tipper straight out and under the second axle.
It then emerges the Driver had held up a Post Office just over the border in Hampshire before fleeing into Berkshire. It was presumed he thought the Police were chasing him for the robbery and not speeding as they actually were.
His ill-gotten gains...........£150.00 IN 50 AND 20 PENCE PIECES.

I'm the slim one leaning on the lamp post......

This next one is a bit more graphic............BE WARNED OR DON'T GO ANY FURTHER (Mods delete pic if inappropriate)

When i chained it onto the transporter loads of the coins fell out onto the bed. The Police followed us back to the Garage and collected all the coins up.

Nice pics and story Steve
Fortunately I never went out to such a serious RTA although I have seen many vehicles smashed as badly, not nice for the lorry driver though.

Seen stuff like that when I used to work for James street motors who did a lot of recovery for motorway works. The majority of nasty accidents were people drunk trying to get home in the small hours and falling asleep, or just plain falling asleep...
One guy driving in a 4x4 with the window open and no belt on eating chips one handed while trying to get fresh air, too quick and rolled it at 90+ and came out the open window during the multiple rolls, looked like a oddly shaped sausage, another a crew had to cut the lamp post off just past vauxhalls on the m53, guy fell asleep and foot went to floor in a big exec omega, hit the post midships and bent the car into a U...
Lots of things being pulled onto beaver backs or dragged off with their big heavy scammel or the like still leaking...
