Hi Guys, newbie here!
I have a hydraulic leak on my control block joysticks, just thinking of stripping top cover plates to investigate.

Does anyone have any experience of a repair/ replacement?
I don’t even know if I can source parts, maybe I am wasting my time stripping out?

The plungers are leaking as they move up and down.

Hi Gary and welcome I would imagine that removing the cover plate will let you see what the issue is, even if the valve block was leaking it could be stripped and new seals put into it, have a look first it may be a simple pipe connection that is leaking.

Jeremy, thanks for the reply.
Pipes are pretty sound, definitely the spool seals leaking.
I stripped off the cover plate today, I can clearly see the seal behind a small steel retaining ring.
Only thing I can't work out is how to replace?

The plunger is a larger diameter at the controls connection, getting the old seal out looks straight forward enough; but installing the replacement not so obvious?
I have had trouble uploading pictures so difficult to explain.
Can't even find any replacement parts for powerfab.

Gary,

You may be better off taking it to a local hydraulics engineer; it's hard to offer advice when you cannot see the actual component, you can try uploading pics again, simply click the "upload pic" tab above, then click on the "choose file" tab and you can then select the photo you want directly from your device, then click on the "upload" tab, then click on the "upload all images and close" and the photo or how ever many you have selected should appear listed below you typing, once you click the submit button the whole lot should be posted. Hope that helps.

Jeremy, I have tried without success to upload images, also tried different devices to see if chrome made any difference.
Once my images upload, I just see a text file path rather than images.
Any further advice would be appreciated.

Guys, I have just cracked the image upload.

So I sorted the seals on the control block spool valves.

Please view the cylinder in the image, I also have a hydraulic fluid leak from the top of the cylinder when you slew around. I just need to know if I strip out the cylinder can I repair or am I likely to be wasting my time?
I fully degreased and none of the hoses are leaking, fluid emerging from between the rotating cylinders.
Any advice or thoughts greatly appreciated.

Hi Gary glad you finally cracked how to post pictures as for your leaking rotary coupling, yes you should be able to pull it apart okay and I'm guessing here that you will find some 'O' ring type seals in there, from the look of your photo it looks like the lot may be held in by the large circlip which is visible. My main advice would be to make sure that your hose connections are clearly marked along with the coupling position so that it all goes back together the correct way around.
Just check the bore of the coupling once you have it apart but hopefully new seals should cure the leak, let us know how you get on with it.

Hi Garry.
In reply to your earlier question, yes it should be possible to reseal your rotary coupling, (rotary distributor), and you would not be wasting your time. It is a normal maintenance / repair procedure.
I think you will find they are more than just "O" ring seals though and it may be that you have to undo all the pipes and remove the whole unit to withdraw the center to which the seals will be fitted.
Clearly if you remove the circlip as Jeremy says you should be able to push out the center spool, but from your pic. there doesn't appear to be clearance for you to remove it at the other end with the unit in place.
Be sure to heed Jeremy's advice and mark all hoses and connections.
