I'm at a loss as to where the lever that releases the clamps on the rails is located. It's a 1982 3CX Sitemaster with Extradig (Perkins engine).
My 3CMk3 was obvious, by mates 1985 3CX is on the right handside of the rear controls.
I've got nothing on either side of the rear controls and the plastic shrouds show no cut outs of where it may have been if it had been removed.
Any ideas?
Where's my sideshift lever?

Re: Where's my sideshift lever?
Have you tried tracing the lines from the Hydra-Clamps back to where they meet the hydraulic valve block and then figured out which valve operates them? It should all be visible if you look through the back of the backhoe attachment and between the rails...Mine '87 has that same lever as your mates, but with the floor mat up you can see where there were extra holes in the tub for other levers and pedals are hiding...

Re: Where's my sideshift lever?
Thanks chaps!
I missed the hole in the rubber gaitor! It appears the lever has been removed in its entirety. I'll get a photo uploaded tomorrow to show what is left to try and work out what I need to get it working again!

Re: Where's my sideshift lever?
So this is what I have:
I assume a lever should connect to the circular hole somehow?
Merry Christmas everyone!

Can't find a better picture but here's one of Facebook that might give you an idea.... It's not at the best angle to get a good view.

Re: Where's my sideshift lever?
Thanks Agrimax -much appreciated.
It looks like my valve is in the opposing position compared to your photo, whether mine is open or closed, I don't know?
How does the lever operate? Is it a case of pushing the lever forward to open/close and vice versa?
I'll see if I can find an exploded diagram to get a better understanding.

Re: Where's my sideshift lever?
If the system is simalar to the earlier 3C then the hydraclamp is very simple. The clamp pistons are continually pressured by oil when back hoe services are in use. The oil is effectively moved one way against the clamp piston. The valve in the cab simply is an on/off that dumps pressure.

Re: Where's my sideshift lever?
The lever has a rotational action, which sprung loaded todefault in the locked position which would I suspect be the backward location in your configuration. You would push it away from you and have to hold it open to release the pressure on the clamps which then allows you to reposition the backactor.
