If it's the suction strainer underneath the left side near the footstep, then yes the oil will all drain out afaik.

Be prepared to catch best part of 40 gallons of oil.

Do you intend changing the hydraulic oil? Either way I might be tempted to remove a pipe from one of the front rams and spool out some oil. Need 2 pairs of hands ideally.

THANKS FOR HELP IS THERE ANY WAY TO DRAIN THE OIL FROM A HOSE MAYBE EASIER THAN ALL FROM DROPPING THE PLATE THE FRONT BUCKET LIFTS OK AND THE REAR LEGS STAY DOWN FOR OVER A WEEK WITH WHEELS OFF THE GROUND BUT THE ARMS ON THE BACK JUST DROP AS SOON AS I RELEASE THE PRESSURE ON THE LEVERS ANY IDEAS GETTING FED UP WITH IT IF I HAVE TO REPLACE ALL THE OIL ITS PROBABLY WORTH MORE THAN THE MACHINE

Have you major external leaks or do the rams creep without obvious oil loss?

no external leaks but if i let go of the control lever it drops down instantly have had several people tell me it was the filter or the pump but front bucket lifts no problem and the jacks will keep the wheels off the ground for well over a week
now im told its the spool valve seals if it is can the seals be done in place without removing it and how much oil will i loose any advice welcomed :? :? thanks to anyone who replied

The spools valves are constructed by very fine metal to metal tolerances and if wear at that point I doubt there is much you can do other than replace. I am never convinced that a problem like your will be with piston seals. The volume either side of a piston is different due to the rod. If oil transfers past the piston seals it would need to go past the spool as well.
