JCB 8014 Bucket Ram Leak

Hello all,
I am having a frustrating time with my JCB 8014 (1998) bucket ram leaking. The leak is coming from the wiper seal area, so I bought a kit and replaced all the seals at once. I did notice at the time the new wiper seal was a pain to get on (very tight on the ram) and when I tested it out the seal became deformed and started to push out of the ram when I used the machine.
So I got out my digital calipers and measured the old seals. I then ordered a second set of new seals that were exactly the same dimensions as the old ones(some seals in the first set I bought were slightly different in size).

Fitted these new seals and they seemed a much better fit than the other ones, and the wiper seal hasn't deformed like the first one.

I ran the machine for a bit - and the bucket ram is still leaking from the wiper seal. The rod seems to be in good condition, can't feel any edges on it that might be damaging the seals.

So I really want some opinions on what I can try/do next?

Hi and welcome I would try a hydraulics/drives specialist they may be able to fit a different seal to the ram and offer a guarantee, I know this is a pain but it's one possible solution, the other would be to get the hydraulic oil pressure checked on that service because perhaps if it is set too high then it could push the seals out, that really should be done first, hope this helps.

Did you go to JCB with a machine number or did you quote the model to an independent supplier? Just wondering if the machine and age have got muddled? How does the gland/pressure seal fit into the housing and is there some kind of seal/o ring between the gland housing and cylinder that could be to fault?

Thanks for the replies guys. I will take it to a hydraulic shop as my next step.

I found a JCB seal kit from an independent supplier after looking up the JCB parts numbers. After those didn't stop the leak, I measured the original seals and found matching seals online from a company called Mayday Seals and Bearings. These also have failed to stop the leak.

I hardly like to ask, but are you fitting the seals the right way round
The lip of the gland seal should always face into the ram.

I took photos of every step of disassembly, I am sure I put the gland seals in the same way they came out. There did seem to be a flat metal ring inside the gland. I assume this goes to the "outside" of the piston instead of towards the inside.

One of the reasons I asked about the machine number is that I am not sure the 8014 was built in 1998.
