The mk1 was perhaps the first purpose built machine, from the mid fifties, here fitted with a compressor.

I think I read someone on this forum saying they had an early JCB which was fitted with a petters PH2 I might be wrong but I wouldn't of thought a PH2 would be up to the job, any thoughts anyone?.

That digger you are referring to is a JCB 1 which was manufactured in 1963. It only weighed 2.5 tonne hence the Petter PH2. A JCB 1 is early but not as early as a Mk1 Excavator.

Ah there's me thinking of some thing a lot later and more substantial. At 2.5 tons it should cope OK.

That looks like the baby, that PH2 only knocked out about 18bhp, amazing what it would lend it self to
