Thanks, as far as i know, the blocks should be the same, but sometimes manufacturers like to throw a spanner in the works by changing a few little things, that's why i was hoping someone has tried it and would know if there are any problems, if i get round to doing it i'll post it on here so others can know.

Hi,
I don't think you'll have any problem with the lump as long as you have the original vertical engine to transplant the bits.
I've worked on virtually all the old Leylands, horizontal and vertical, though I never made this swap.
Pretty sure all the part numbers for the main lumps tie up.
Which model have you got and what's it in

Thanks for that info fred, i have a early 600 leyland from a challenger 3, and i'm looking at buying a bus with a 680, which more than likely would be a horizontal, so i want to put it in the dozer to give it a bit more low down as we live on steep country.
