The Aveling Barford GD rollers replaced a lot of steam rollers in the mid to late 1960's. They were fitted with a movable weight to alter downward pressure on the rolls. Many years later I worked on one and took it down the road ror a test run,they had a good turn of speed and a rapid change of forward to reverse.The later version,the Master Pavior were a very good diesel roller.
