The Classic Machinery Network

I had a spare days holiday to use before the end of the month and so I popped up to Stafford to see an old friend of mine; while I was up in that neck of the woods I called in at a scrap yard that I wrote an article on for CP&M magazine.

This place is brilliant its almost like the land that time stood still, that being said there was a few new arrivals for selling or chopping up plus the remains of some too late to save. There is the remains of a JCB 812 Powerslide machine if anybody needs any bits plus a Marshall roller.

I also noticed a ditching bucket in a heap of scrap if anybody needs any bits or any parts/machines let me know and I'll see what I can do. They did sell the Iron Fairy crane after the magazine article so that did them and somebody else a favour. I will not post all the pics tonight, running out of time.

Great stuff there Fred I have seen a photo of the same early 580C elsewhere on the net but not the rest of the kit, some machines worth saving there and some good truck bits too.

Okay then can anybody identify what the remains of the JCB in these photographs once was? There is not much to go on but I'm sure somebody can work it out; I reckon it maybe either a 3 or an early 3C?

Looking at picture no 1 and 2 i reckon it had the sloping front grill from either a 2B, 2D or 3 In picture 1 you can just about pick out the top part of the grill that had the vertical slats that would have had the lights behind it.

In Fred's pictures there is an Ingersoll Rand compressor, the trailer it is mounted on is an old WW2 search light trailer by Dyson, I have the very same model of this trailer in my yard and it's makers plate is dated 1939!
