Nice pic' of the Crusader there Nicky, I used to regularly drive 2 of these Chariots, the 1 was fitted with a 280 Rolls Royce motor with double drive B/End, the other was fitted with the Detroit 8V 92 series engine again with double drive (Rockwell) B/End, I was told it was an Ex Heanor Haulage tractor??? anyhow my wife could hear me coming home on the M50 we lived in Tewkesbury then, so as they say the noise was like a TS24 but it used to go like hell and pull anything asked, in its day it was about as good as you could get and was some mount for a then young man to be in control of on Heavy Haulage, are those Ladys in the front about to wash the wagon off???

TC I always thought what a lovely wagon the Crusader was although I got close up to the Rolls Royce engines I never got up close to a Crusader; I know that H Fellows Transport ran one with a Cummins NH220 'shoe horned' into it but that was before I went to work there. Would have loved a drive in a Detroit powered one or a TM for that matter I think they sounded superb.

Great picture Clive Squibbs had a very Large Hitachi with long arm shear up at the old Tun Wells Hospital site a few weeks back.
Ok this month my two pics are not construction equipment but i wanted to share them as i am patriotic and in awe of the few and it being 70 year anniversary i snapped these when i was down at the Royal Welsh show last week, 1st picture was as they appeared over the hills heading towards us the sound of those Merlin engines made the hairs on your arms and neck stand up and the second speaks for itself the Spitfire and Hurricaine belonging to the BBMF (www.battleofbritainmemorialflight)
