Fork Lift identification

Post #1 by johnl9k » Tue Jun 30, 2015 10:53 pm

H, I'm trying to identify a very old fork lift, its probably 1950s 3 wheel 36Volt electrics, Hydraulic fork. It is thought it was made by a company called Convayencer who who were taken over by Coventry Climax. If required I can get Photo's, but is this the right site to come to for this sort of request?

Hi again, I have some photo's to upload but I don't know how to attach them as thumbnails. I have tried using the attachment facility at the bottom of the posting screen but viewing the results in preview they seem to come out too large with a lot of white space. What am I doing wrong?
John. eg,

Anyway they are there, what I am after is to identify the machine in order to get a copy of the circuit diagram I have 18 assorted pages of the service manual but no diagram can anyone help please? Any cost will be met. John.

John your photos have posted okay albeit that one is on sideways; what info is on the two aluminium plates that you can see on the panel below the seat by the controls in the third photo? My best suggestion would be to contact a local fork tuck specialist who may be able to help you with correct identification; just tell them you may be after some parts but aren't sure what the model number is, once you have a positive identification then you try and find the info you are after.

Jeremy, the large plate just has the logo for Conveyancer and a list of hydraulic oils and lubricants and I can't recall what the smaller one said, but it was just some general warning and it didn't carry anything to help with identification. There are no other labels anywhere. As to your suggestion to contact a local fork lift truck dealer I live near Cardigan on the west coast of Wales. Do you have any idea who would be my nearest? John.

John here is a random company that I found on a quick Google search they may or may not be able to help you, perhaps if they can't they could put you in contact with somebody who could;

http://www.southwalesforktrucks.co.uk/

From the little that I have read about Conveyancer they built some of the earliest fork trucks around 1946 I believe?

Further to my original inquiry I have found the fork lift truck I was trying to identify is a Conveyancer E2-20. Are there any collections of old workshop manuals around? e-bay has drawn a blank and nothing can be found on the Web, although I am not particularly skilled in searching. Any way thanks for reading the posts so far. John.

John I doubt that you would be lucky enough to obtain a workshop manual for your machine; can I ask is there any specific thing that you need to repair on the truck because there are folks on this site with a wide knowledge that may be bale to help you?
I have one last contact for you that may be able to assist you;

This is the site for the National Forklift Truck Heritage centre; you can contact them via this link and they may be able to help you in your quest. :thumbup:
