In early 2007 this retired guy saw this rig working on a hospital expansion in his community, he had been thinking about building a model crane to play with when he happened on the hospital project. He visited with the project Supt who was very cooperative with letting the builder take dimensions and photos. The scale is 1/16th. Using spec sheets from internet and on site information he started building, not one to sit and ponder dimensioned drawings he started building. If something didn't work out correctly he reworked the component. After completed was shown at numerous local events drawing all degrees of interest and attention. Also was displayed in the contractors office foyer for nearly a year. Most recent upgrade was to tracks, added propulsion to each track frame assembly. Under study is remote control, the house configuration of this machine doesn't allow much volume for the receiver equipment.
As shown boom and jib are each 11 feet long, the boom sections are 3 feet long, there is another boom section that could be added. Transportation to shows has evolved from hauling on small trailer to the present configuration. Uses a small jib crane to lift model from his truck. Notice counter weights are placed on after machine is on mat.
