hi i thinkthe lathe is an american toolworks machine,i had one 20 odd years ago, looks identical except mine was a fair bit bigger being 10 ft between centres it was a 1917 model ex railway i was told it was a left handed machine as all the controls were oppisite sides to a normal lathe,as im right handed it was awkward to use

Looks American to me
It's got the saddle wheel to the left of the cross slide screw which is generally considered to be American
I think they were also using V beds at an early date to.
Is it basically Imperial or metric ?
Does it have American screw threads?
That style of construction died out in the early 30's when small electric motors took over from line shafting
might be a brown and sharpe or something like that.
looks quite useable.
hope this helps
Geoff

Never seen that type before but it looks quite dangerous safety wise.
